A mobile app is a long-term product, not a one-off project. The team you choose will shape how fast you launch, how the app feels in Arabic and English, and how easy it is to improve later. These seven questions help you compare partners on what really matters.
1. How will you understand our users?
Good teams start with your customers, not with screens. Ask how they gather requirements, whether they run workshops, and how they validate ideas before writing code.
2. Native, cross-platform or web app?
There is no single right answer. Cross-platform frameworks reach iOS and Android from one codebase, which often lowers cost. Native development can make sense for demanding performance or device features. A partner should explain the trade-offs for your case, not push one technology for every project. The choice also affects your budget; see how much app development costs in Qatar and the GCC.
3. How do you handle Arabic and right-to-left layouts?
In Qatar and across the Gulf, bilingual support is essential. Ask to see Arabic screens from previous work. Check that layouts mirror correctly, fonts are readable and numbers, dates and currency display properly in both languages. Our RTL checklist for bilingual websites and apps lists what to test.
4. How will you keep our data and users secure?
Look for clear answers on authentication, encryption, secure storage of tokens and how they test for vulnerabilities. If your app handles payments or personal data, ask how they meet the relevant regulations.
5. How will we see progress?
Regular demos, a shared backlog and test builds on your own phone keep surprises to a minimum. Ask how often you will see working software, and how changes in scope are agreed.
6. What happens after launch?
App store reviews, operating system updates, crash monitoring and new features all continue after day one. Agree on a support plan, response times and who owns the source code and store accounts. You should.
7. Can we talk to your clients?
References from similar businesses tell you more than any portfolio. Ask what went well, what didn’t and whether they would work with the team again.
